Determination

We headed to the New Zealand Secondary Schools Cross Country this morning, being held on Christchurch, to watch 988 secondary school aged kids from all over New Zealand to compete in the national cross country competition.

It was a bitterly cold day, but these brave kids gave it their best in the terrible weather conditions. I took quite a few photo's, but love this one of competitor 77 from Tauranga, competing in the 3000m race. This young lady finished 54th in a time of 12.39. What a fantastic achievement - and what a wonderful look of determination on her face. I love the way her hair is 'flying' from side to side, while she strides to the finish line.

It was lovely to meet up with fellow blipper Mario and to meet Millie and her parents. Millie did exceptionally well in finishing 6th in the senior girls race. Thank you Mario for all your advice and encouragement. You are a very kind man.
