Please be aware - your tepee is not waterproof

Which is a bit of a problem when you take a look at that sky!

Stayed in a tepee this weekend which was quite an experience. Although based on an authentic Sioux design, there were some 20th century concessions like:

~ A chimnea to keep you warm on cold nights
~ A raised and carpeted floor to keep out the cold and damp
~ A double futon for lounging around and sleeping on
~ A rechargeable lantern so that you could see (sort of at least) at night

That said, it was still quite basic , and that was really noticeable at night. When the wind got up and it rained heavily, the noise was really annoying and the rain fell freely through the hole in the top where the poles all meet. Quite a clever design that, as there are flaps that open up to let the smoke out when you light the fire; not that we did. It wasn't cold enough or perhaps we were too lazy.

At the end of the day, great fun, but perhaps better suited to the plains of Arizona that the fields of Norfolk!
