Glow Worm Glen

So lucky, what a magical evening! We’d decided on a quick one nighter in Bundanoon (escape the heatwave, it’s a tad cooler here). Still, we were pretty exhausted after our bushwalk and debated whether to curl up with a book and a whisky in the lounge (it’s a pub hotel with fairly primitive rooms, but charming nonetheless) or drag ourselves out on another hike to the Glowworm Glen.

So worth the effort, and fun night walking too. Midweek, before school holidays, not too many other takers, and they all left before it got really dark. Glow worms all around and the stars above. Not the sort of thing I could capture photographically, although I did record the beautiful sounds (water, insects) once the other guests had left.

Lots of mosquitoes naturally but I had my husband to distract them (I specialise in ticks and leeches, he in mosquitoes).

The photo is looking up from the glen as we waited for the glow worms and the stars.
