Root and branch

Martin is a fruit tree expert who came to look at our trees and  gave some of them a radical make-over. He talked about dog-legs and leaders and goblets and rootstocks. He can tell just by wobbling the smaller trees what type of rootstock they were grafted on.

He supports people in establishing community orchards although they don't always get adequately maintained as the years go by.

Nine years ago Martin came to the apple day we held at the surplus food cafe, see here. (Nice to be reminded of those activities.)
