Christmas Day

It is tradition, that we visit my in-laws on Christmas Day, and so we did also this year.. Christmas meal was wonderful, as always.

In the picture is a straw yule goat, a traditional Finnish Christmas decoration. They come in many sizes and thicknesses. In fact, yule goat in Finnish is joulupukki, which is our word for Father Christmas / Santa Claus.

The Yule goat is a Scandinavian and Northern European Yule / Christmas symbol and tradition. Its origin is from Germanic paganism and has existed in many variants during Scandinavian history. Modern representations of the Yule goat are typically made of straw.
