Poke

Poke.

We have never seen poke in Brazil before this trip. We had some for lunch at a mall where we had two poke food court restaurants to choose from. Later we saw another poke restaurant in the old town center. This was quite good, and the topping options definitely included some unusual options catering to local tastes; corn and crispy couve were two that I opted for. There is nothing unusual about corn per se, but they use it in unusual places around here (on pizzas, burgers, and apparently on poke). I had never heard of couve before Digitaldaze and Barrioboy mentioned it as a side for feijoada (I've variously seen claims that it is a wild cabbage, kale, or collard greens)... it is definitely reminiscent of kale chips as I had it today, and it is definitely delicious).
