The Silent Meow

For me, today's blip seems a little light-weight and frivolous in the light of the weather here over the last two days. We have experienced one of the most violent winter storms in decades. When I say we, I am using it collectively as New Zealander.
In actual fact Blenheim got off fairly lightly with only a small amount of snow sprinkled on the hill country, no gales and little flooding. The worst of the weather moved rapidly up the east coast of the South Island. It then moved out to sea over Cape Campbell to the south of Blenheim, headed over Cook Strait and hit Wellington, our capital city, with a vengeance. Anyone can catch up with the drama of the storm on internet news websites such as TV One.
So with little dramatic weather effects to blip, my attention turned to the one member of our family who has not yet been introduced to the world of blip.
Here I introduce "Amelia Jane" our lovely little seal tortie-point Birman girl. She is a tiny little animal compared with our gentle giants, the Maine Coon cats.
We bred Birman cats for over twenty years and only retired from this engrossing hobby a couple of years ago. Our litters of kittens were all house-reared and had the most incredible personalities and gentle natures. It was great fun having little kittens in the house.
As a family, over the years, we all learned much about cat husbandry, cat shows, toilet training, worming and all that goes with having cute little babies running around. Birman kittens are absolutely beautiful little things and I do miss them.
Of course each one of our four children grew up with a great love of both cats and dogs. Every one of them has a pet cat or two, or three. Dogs are more of a responsibility but the family has joint custody of our dogs whenever they are visiting.
So here you are...meet Amelia... and you may well see more images of her in the future.
