Down at heel

Two project collaborators were passing through Dar es Salaam, staying in the city centre for the evening. They suggested dinner and wanted my recommendations, but I only knew the names of flashy hotels where I’ve been for work events. We all agreed we needed somewhere more ‘down at heel’, so we found a simple place serving up chicken and pilau, and an evening was spent in more relaxed surroundings.
