On a platter

We took the happy couple from last week out for lunch at the Ship on the Shore today. [Obviously not the groom and has father - rather the groom and the bride.] Splendid nosh.

Back home all mellow and working my way through the Book Festival programme. I may try to go to a few more events this year. I certainly like the vibe at the Festival, but there is a general rule, nay an immutable law that it always rains when we go anywhere near Charlotte Square in August.

Talking of rain, we had our first water from the skies of any note for at least a month today. Even then, it's hardly been as bad as it was forecast to be. There was quite a lot of rain between about 3pm and 5pm, and was rather wet as we walked back from the restaurant, but it's dry again now, and I've still had to water the balcony plants because it's not the sort of rain that actually gets the balcony wet.

It will be a quiet Saturday evening probably watching the Confederations Cup on BBC3.
