Female Blackbird

On BBC’s Winterwatch last night, they put slices of apples on a tree in an attempt to attract waxwings. They were not very confident it would work but did get some other birds feeding from the apples. After filling the feeders and putting out fresh water, I thought I would have a go in my garden too. Within a few minutes, I was pleased to see that a female blackbird had arrived to peck at the freshly sliced apple. Any extra help we can give the birds on these cold winter days must be welcome.
