Cincinnati Pops at Riverbend

Saturday
I decided it was high time I put in another appearance on Blip, before people entirely give up on me! We took a break this evening from preparing for our upcoming move to France, and went to the Cincinnati Pops concert at Riverbend with a large group from church. Riverbend is an outdoor amphitheater, by the Ohio River. It opened in 1984 and can seat up to 20,500, some seated, and under cover at the front. and the rest on the lawn area. Because of its location next to the Ohio River, parts of the venue can flood, particularly during the Spring, before the facility opens for the season, but there have been occasions that events have had to be cancelled. You can just make out the river through the trees to the left of the stage, and we saw two big barges and various other watercraft go by during the concert. It had been a really hot humid day, but the evening cooled off considerably and a good breeze rose up - at one point we were afraid we may be in for some storms, but fortunately it stayed dry and a great evening was had by all. Shirley, one of our associate pastors had brought along a couple of party trays of chicken, and everybody took some food to share so we certainly didnt go hungry! We were also able to enjoy the "supermoon", when the moon, entering its fullest phase, is also the closest to earth for the year, and appears brighter and about 14% bigger than normal - a beautiful sight to add to our enjoyment.
