Fading Colours of Quidhampton Mill

Although some of the mill buildings are now somebody's home, the end section is not used and it provides this story. The mill dates from the late 1600s and is situated less than a mile from the source of the River Test, Hampshire, England. More of the history of the mill can be found here

I was attracted to the flaking and fading colours of the paint as they gradually give way to the natural hues of wood and algae. Generations of local people will have passed this door or its predecessors since the late 1600s, and I wonder which if the green, blue and white were most favoured.

Thankfully, the rest of the original building is in better repair, and there has been significant investment in a modern garden room within the grounds. I hope that the cost of keeping the rest watertight does not get overtaken by the cost of starting afresh, though it's not my dilemma.

The image just needed cropping, with a slight vignette masking the very light bricks on the left. Extra is the wall perpendicular to this one.

Thanks for hosting, Marlieske.
