XOꓭ ꓘNI⅂

I’m fond of a bit of street furniture; postboxes, phone boxes, drainage covers, milepost signs, etc.
I know, I should get out more often but in fact it’s only when I get out that I can appreciate this branch of the arts.

This is a cover in the pavement. As you can see on the lower edge it has ELECTRICITY etched into the surface and on the upper edge it says
XOꓭ ꓘNI⅂

What does that mean, I hear you ask? Well, it’s upside down, silly, and reads LINK BOX

A Link box is a box installed in a pit beneath the pavement which contains a low voltage cable joint with a removable link. It’s this link that allows the low voltage circuit to be switched.
So now you know.
