Ramblings and Mutterings

You're having a giraffe!

A restful night considering I had to go to A&E in the evening because of the pain. They've given me some antibiotics because of the swelling around the fistula and told me to come back today, where a scan would be arranged.

And so began a marathon experience in hospital. It was going quite quickly as one of vascular access nurses had a look at me. The bad news was that no scan could be arranged. The nurse said she was going to get the surgeons to have a look at my arm after she had taken pictures of it.

At 11am we were then escorted up to day surgery unit, a quick flurry of activity and then it was just waiting and waiting. At around 5pm, I was suddenly rushed down to x-ray to get an ultrasound scan on my arm. The doc before he did the scan said, that you don't need to be a PhD graduate to work out that my fistula had bled in to the muscle. He did the scan and said it was quite a significant bleed, but there was no explanation as to why.

And then began another wait. Finally, the consultant saw me and said that he would try and get me on the theatre list tomorrow and operate on my arm. He also wanted me to stay in, but I declined, with no guarantee of an operation and given that I'd been in hospital for 12 hours, I just wanted to get home.

So tomorrow could be another long wait.

Today I am thankful for:

1.  The support of my father
