The Fly.

This bracket fungus was growing on a dead and decaying sycamore in next door's garden; I say "was" because it is now itself decaying, compared to yesterday it has developed a little sagginess. I was intrigued to note that the underside is slightly reticulated, a fact not obvious when viewed in situ but is clearly visible in the photograph; whether this amount of detail is visible once it has been uploaded remains to be seen. I am also interested in seeing how it develops and disperses its spores since it doesn't have gills as some fungi do.
