Quod oculus meus videt

Safer Internet Day

Another of those 'Days', but this one is a little nearer to my heart as one of the guardians of Blipfoto.  I feel privileged to be a director of one of the kindest social media spaces on the internet.  With all the recent reporting on the negative aspects of social media, particularly how it has influenced behaviour amongst some of our youth, it is an exceptional place where kindness is uppermost in the interactions across the community.  If only all social media was the same.

I had a telephone consultation with one of the doctors from the oncology department today.  It was good to hear that my results were clear from the blood test last week.  It is now over five years since my prostate was removed, and over two years since my radiotherapy.  The results mean that they are looking to discharge me from their care, though they will be transferring me to a community specialist nurse to oversee check ups and reducing the frequency of blood tests to every 6 months (rather than the current 3).  It's great news and hopefully the future tests will continue to reflect the success of the treatments.
