Lakefront & Cuyahoga River

A brisk and very sunny day volunteering on the lakefront on Whiskey Island, Wendy Park, and nearby environs. The best part was getting acquainted with SF for our first shift together. In the extra she was showing me how she practices balancing on the frames of the volleyball courts on the beach when no one is around. The other gal in the extra is Margie, who was dancing in the parking lot. She’s a community activist, Latin community promoter, and choreographer from Puerto Rico. She specializes in dancing the bomba, plena, and salsa. Margie was just taking a few minutes for herself when we came along. She gave us some background information, then turned up the music. She was right! You can’t hold still when the percussion-driven music plays. The three of us had a blast. What a warm and cheerful woman.

The main collage shows (clockwise, from top left):
---fish in Lake Erie since it’s been cleaned up after decades of river fires caused by pollution;
---a freighter and lots of gulls;
---the red swing bridge, at last operational again after repairs; and,
---a view of downtown from the flats with the new Sherwin Williams corporate headquarters still under construction.

A fine day.
