Craning Its Neck

I wonder whether cranes are so called because of their long necks and are often found craning their necks to see the view. This Sandhill Crane was busy looking around in the wetland; he was a little suspicious of me, so I didn't go anywhere close.

He appeared to be on his own, maybe waiting for his other half to show up. I think they mate for life, so I hope she's not got lost. Sometime later I saw him fly off.

Extra: Ice Wave. More glitzy ice sculpture goodness. Three shot focus stack.
