All those years ago.

3/- for a packet of ten cigarettes ! Price nowadays about £16 so I believe.
I never really smoked as a youth even though my folks did in great numbers. Mum used to collect the coupons by the hundreds.
53 years ago today, on the 15th of February 1971, was Decimal Day, also known as D-Day, when the UK switched from 'old money' to a decimal system of 100p in the £. Previously, 240d made a £.
Remember this day well, I was at catering college and trying to get my head around measuring & converting from lbs etc to grams. At twenty all we were worried about was a pint going to be the same.
Happy Decimal Day folks to all who remember it.
