Walking in the hoof prints of Highway men.

A walk along the old London to Portsmouth road today. We had been to help get  my sons car started and then for a walk at the Devils punch bowl. We passed a memorial plaque to comemorate two men who were hanged back in the day for robbing and murdering an unamed sailor. The area is known as gibbet hill. The road was also infamous for highwaymen who would hold up horse driven coaches with the command of " stand and deliver"
Today it was mostly inhabited by dog walkers and children on half term.
