Trixie

'Trixie makes a serious mistake'
I read in the Radio Times.
How serious?
Will she mess up the rhymes

in a poem she's writing? Does
she smudge her lipstick?
I'm making light of this because
it's probably nothing too problematic.

But oh no. She's a nurse.
Trixie's a midwife in the sixties
so this could be much worse
than I thought. Hope a quick fix is

possible and that no one dies. Trixie's
in an important profession. But me, I'm
the one seriously spending too much time
ensuring I end on a rhyme. And failing.
