Fishing with Dad

at Shadow Lake, South Chagrin Reservation. Seen on my way home Sunday morning. (Backblip)

Did a two hour TA shift with TM at Bedford Reservation.  We mostly walked on the all purpose trail since the dirt trails were too muddy.  The mountain bike trails were closed to everyone, but of course, one jogger ignored the signs.  We met some nice folks and I got to pet some doggies. We found a geocache box behind the Tinkers Creek overlook restroom, placed on a decaying tree stump in 2013.  I didn't open it.  You'll see why in the extra.

It's always entertaining with TM.  He told me about "riding his bike to Canada" which meant he rode from Cleveland to the Lake Erie islands, then took ferries between the various islands and the mainland.  (Cheat!)  He also planted maple trees in front of his family home on South Green Road ("Tommy Mapleseed") as a kid.  He's still painting the interior of his home with his left hand due to a permanent right shoulder injury.  We found a dead hemlock full of borer holes.  (Cambium, xylem, phloem, you know).  At one point we both broke out in unison in an old tv commercial song.  Pretty funny.

We drove to another part of the reservation called Forbes Woods and discovered the heavily wooded trail that connects to Hawthorn Parkway.  We'll hike that another day because we can't figure out how it tranverses the highway.   And inquiring minds need to know.

Extra has a collage with some minor shots.  I forgot half of what I originally wrote that got lost.......
