Finished flowering, but still beautiful.

125 years ago today, 0n 28th June 1888, Vincent Van Gogh referred to the painted ceilings of the Galerie d'Apollon (part of the Louvre Museum) as a model for his own use of colour in the painting Sower with setting sun. Van Gogh adopted this basic principle of complementary contrasts, using it for the rest of his artistic career - including his later painting Irises in 1890...
