Happy Mother's Day

I went for a walk with my soon-to-be daughter-in-law T this morning, round the back of the village and along some quite muddy footpaths between fields, serenaded by fabulous birdsong, to reach the local garden centre. I really enjoyed finding this post box in Blackberry Lane, and could have sworn when I took the photo that there was a sign on the top of the post box saying “Happy Mother’s Day” but it’s not visible here. Maybe it was lying down flat on top of the box.

On arrival at the garden centre we had a pleasant wander around the spacious displays of plants, pots, garden tools and gifts but gave the coffee shop a miss when we saw the length of the queue!

T’s mother arrived just as we got back, and we all sat down to a roast lamb lunch with all the trimmings, cooked by our son.

We shall be staying one more night, but our son has to go away for work tonight, ready to be in court at 9.00 am, so we shall have time to chat to T on our own and discuss wedding plans. Very exciting!
