Emerson Chambers

A dull and wet day in Newcastle.  My sister and I had brunch at Cote Brasserie (scrambled eggs and smoked salmon - very delicious) and had a look in a few shops including a charity shop where I bought a top for £2.  I've tried it on and it looks fine.  A real bargain.

Emerson Chambers is quite an ornate building in the centre of the town.  It was built in 1903 as  high end restaurant complete with orchestra.  It also contained shops and offices.  There used to be a clock at the top of the building (on the right hand side).  It was installed in 1904 and mechanised in 1965 but has now been removed.  The building is currently home of Waterstones bookshop.
