here there be giants

I read a report the other day which suggested there are more Giant Redwood trees in the UK than in North America; some 500,000 here, compared with 80,000 in California.  I'm sure my American blip friends will verify the numbers over there.

Most of the UK trees are between 150 and 190 years old, so babies as far as this particular species is concerned.  Brought back as seedlings by Victorian travellers, most are to be found in large parks and stately homes  But two are in our local cemetery.  See extras.

This begs the question; how did they end up here?  Not only that, the cemetery has lots of old and very large specimens of other trees; in particular, Yew, Beech and Pine.  I sense a Blip project coming on.
