Spring Beauty

The Red-Flowering Currant blossoms are in full bloom now. I love the contrast between the delicate blossoms and the crinkled leaves.

Extras: (1) an elderly hydrangea leaf that made it through the winter, still neighbor to a delicate new bud; (2) the tender new leaves on the lilac shrub that grew from a cutting my mother gave me years ago. 

She had brought it from the farm in Virginia where her mother was born, and where as children my younger sisters and I loved to visit in the summer.
