I'm blowed if I can figure out what kind of butterfly this is, after googling in vain. I saw lots of them today -- they have beautiful jet-black upper sides to their wings, with white edges, but every time it lands it snaps its wings shut instantly, becoming almost invisible -- I managed to catch one against a contrasting background here. I seem to have got a bit hooked on photographing butterflies since I re-found the 200 mm lens. I will quite happily spend half an hour stalking them around a field.

Meanwhile, in Readers' World, I finished reading The Light Between Oceans. I started out feeling underwhelmed by it, but in the end I was quite gripped. A good holiday read.
