Musical Gymnastics in the Old Gym

Its the day of our concert, being held in the Old Gym at Wellington College, in Crowthorne. This building, built nearly 30 years after the founding of the school in 1859, is now used as a theatre venue, available to hire by local groups such as ourselves. Presumably at some point there were more traditional gym fittings, such as wall bars and the like, but today it sports a stage, with lighting rig and chandeliers!

As a chamber choir our normal repertoire is mainly classical, but the Summer concert is a good opportunity to sing lighter pieces. Our relatively new conductor, Nick, stepped this up a notch, and we found ourselves singing some very silly numbers as well as a whole load of ensembles, solos and duets from members of the choir, some of whom have never ventured out onto the boards alone before! It was a real workout for the choir, and good fun was had by all!
