Summer Solace

After last week's cool and wet weather, the sudden jump in temperature today to the mid-80s Farenheit (30 degrees Celsius) is a shock to systems like mine.

For me, rosé wine from the Languedoc -- specifically Hérault, where we've had six wonderful holidays over the years -- is perfect for hot weather. This bottle, from Domaine La Croix Belle in Puissalicon -- a very reasonably priced wine I bought at our local food co-op -- was perfect with our light supper this evening.

Phil and I ate breakfast, lunch, and supper under the welcome shade of the large awning that stretches over our deck. It may not be the south of France, but we are grateful for our view of trees and the songs of the many birds who make their homes there!
