Whilst the kettle does sometimes spurt when it has been filled to the max full line, it would be unusual for there to be this much water and unlikely that I didn't notice over the course of the entire evening since I booked water making the kids' tea. The rain hadn't been unusually heavy but perhaps there was just enough in the right direction at the right time to temporarily overload a bit of the flat roof.
