Easter Monday Insects

I saw and photographed my first white butterflies of 2024 today. The green-veined white is on a dandelion and this orange tip settled on a cream carton that Mishka has kindly cleaned ready for recycling. Male orange tips are on the look-out for mates and consequently are attracted to white and will settle on white objects.

The dandelions attracted solitary bees. I think the one on the right is a male tawny mining bee.

Someone posted a golden eagle on Twitter, said to be over Hertford. I'm guessing that it was an April Fools' joke/lie.
