Twin Madonnas & Rolling Cameras

Our Cycling Italian Class has decided that our grand finale would be ‘cooking’ and sharing a meal. So today, we made a trip to the supermarket to buy all the ingredients. This epic grocery trip did not make the cut for the Blip post, but our visits to the movie set before and after shopping did. Besides hanging colorful laundry and adding ferns to the fosso (ditch) walls, the movie people added a second Madonna dello Stellario. The ‘real’ Madonna sits high atop a granite column next to the Fosso. I’m guessing the director thought she was photogenic but too high to be included while filming the scene. A second Madonna was created which the crew placed on top of the water fountain at the fosso’s edge — closer to the action in height and distance. We came back later that evening and it truly was like being on a movie set. Makeup and costume getting the actors prepared. And the set crew created the scene. The street had been hosed down and smoke pumped in creating a rainy, foggy night. Barriers with drapes kept out the non movie people, but I was able to catch a glimpse while they were filming Dustin Hoffman. Surreal. BTW-It seems the movie title is undecided. The director was pitching it as “Lucca Mortis”, yet all the movie crew ID tags have “Tower Stories”. I can’t wait to see the movie!
