A Day Worth Recording

Great

Picking up M from Great Malvern station.  Always worth a blip.

Great Malvern is one of the two railway stations that remain of the original four stations that served Malvern.  Malvern was the place to be when railways were in their heyday.

Al that remains is Great Malvern in the centre - originally only for first class passengers (!) and complete with the local matriarch's own waiting room.  One platform has a private tunnel to what was then the Imperial Hotel to avoid all that messy business of having to cross a road, heaven forbid.

Malvern Link is the other remaining station, one mile to the north, where, presumably, the proletariat were allowed to get on and off.

Missing are the two that served Malvern Wells, where we are.  One GWR (track still in use), one Midland (track lifted).  The Midland one would have been in walking distance which would have been handy.
