1980s Technics amplifier

Another amplifier! This time a Technics SUV-303 amplifier from 1985 on the desk for a check-over and general refurb. It works OK but the lights are not doing what they are supposed to.

When you switch on, the power unit should go through a warm-up cycle that takes about 30seconds, but it it leaving some of the intermediary steps out. Also the ‘Super A’ logo should light up!

It turns out that Technics have soldered in 3 indicator bulbs that have blown. The trouble is they also provide essential resistance in the power cycle circuit, so that now doesn’t work. New bulbs on order - which unfortunately, will have to be original incandescent bulbs, as modern LEDs won’t work the same way
