Shattering glass!

C and I tried to go for a short walk this morning before she drove back to Wiltshire. It was a windy blustery day.  We parked the car by the side of the lane so we could easily walk to the village to have a look at the church but as soon as we started it poured with rain so in the end we drove down.  When will the wind drop, it was such a noisy night too.

In the afternoon the rain had stopped and the wind had momentarily abated and S arrived with my large new double-glazed window to replace the old one as the seal had gone and the air and condensation were getting in  between the panes of glass. T helped carry it through the house - it weighed eleven and a half stone!!  What happened to the old one? - well it was taken outside and placed on a sheet and literally smashed to pieces with a hammer and taken away in two loads.  The windows have been here  for nearly 20 years and they have to take the full force of the sou'westerlies  so they have lasted well.
