Finchfest

I know that there are goldfinches around as I recognise their singing, somewhere out there in the trees. They are hard to spot.

Having filled the niger feeder, following the recent visit from the siskins, we are thrilled to see it has attracted goldfinches.

Not only that, but a pair of chaffinches came at the same time (see extra collage); the male has taken a black sunflower seed and is trying to process it while the female chose the mixed feeder.

Does this predict a spell of bad weather?
