Life in Sunny Dubai

Global Village #7

And life is back to normal. *Sigh*

G was up and out early for school. I was at my desk, working from home at 8:30. It's back to normal hours for both of us. No shorter lessons for G or finishing around 3 PM for me.

It was great to have a work-week lunch after what feels like ages. I finished around 6:00 and ta-da - we got in the car and headed towards Global Village. We reckon this is our last visit for the season.

We weren't in the car for long when I wondered about the decision to go out. It started to rain! As I recall, the first visit to Global Village this season started the same way. We had a terrific electrical storm, then drove through sheet rain to eventually arrive there to meet up with Jeff and Margaret. They were coming to the end of their time in the country, so wanted to see it.

We were so pleased we went because a mere 19 km away, it wasn't raining there, in fact, we had a cloudless, clear sky. Everything looks so good when the air is clear. It was cooler too, the rain bringing the temperature down a few degrees.

G had already said she wanted sticky mango rice for dessert, so I got to choose the main course. I opted for an Ecco pizza as it could be our last chance to have one. I couldn't believe it when one of the staff recognised us for visiting their branch during EXPO 2020! The guy was so happy, he gave us a free topping on the pizza and drink!

For the first time this season, we watched some of the entertainment on the main stage. The Japanese Cultural show was lovely. The Urban Crew who followed them were energetic and lively, but hip-hop is really not a style of music I like.

We then ventured into Korea, Thailand, Japan and Africa before G got her mango sticky rice. It was delicious, but she doesn't want another one. There's been talk about a terrific storm coming our way on Tuesday. By 10 PM, we had both heard from our respective employers that tomorrow is a work-from-home day.
