Madeira Day 6

Friday 12 April
We enjoyed a glorious day today, exploring some of the western coast of Madeira. First stop , just on the edge of Calheta was Jardim do Mar, main collage, a very picturesque village, with a lovely church, narrow, flower-lined alleys, and a cliff-backed promenade along the shore, where we enjoyed watching the waves breaking on the pebble beach, and the wind catching the spray as the waves broke. After a coffee at a cafe near the church, we continued to our next stop, the lighthouse at Ponta do Pargo, (see extra collage) the westernmost tip of the island. The pictures don’t really show the height of the cliffs. Finally, we continued to Porto Moniz, with its terraced hillsides, and at the foot there are natural sea water pools.
As usual, we returned to the hotel late afternoon for a swim, sunbathe and a drink!
