A moment in time

Road Trip

Over most of this month the weather has been wet and miserable, I believe it is to go down as the wettest April on record.  Today dawned bright, beautiful and DRY and we decided on a wee road trip.

We left quite early and headed over the Erskine Bridge and up Loch Lomondside to Arrochar.  Had a brief stop there to admire the view of The Cobbler (Ben Arthur), which I have shown in extras.  We fancied a coffee but decided to go on up the Rest and Be Thankful and have one at the summit from the food van which is usually there.  At it was!!! Nice to have coffee and some crisps with a cracking view down the glen.

From there is is about an hour's drive round Loch Fyne to our destination of Inveraray.  The pier in the town had been closed due to safety concerns for some time and today it was given an official opening, with a pipe band and a lot of fuss!  Sadly we just missed the performance by the pipe band.  We had a walk along and spoke to some of the people who worked hard to get the funding to reopen the pier.  And we ate our sandwiches there.

There are always a lot of bikers at the pier.  Inveraray is a good destination for motor bikes, as the run up the lochside and the Rest is quite spectacular, especially on a motor bike.  Bob always enjoys a wee blether about the bikes.  Have added an extra.

Then we headed up to the castle, and had a longish walk there which was so enjoyable.  Nice to see lots of tourists around and all enjoying the good weather.

Home for a fish supper!
