Stairs at McIntyre Hall

Thank you all so much for hearts, stars and comments on yesterday’s blip. You are the best!!!

Today our friend Stu picked us up at noon and drove us down to McIntyre Hall in Mt Vernon to attend Pacific Northwest Opera’s last performance of Mozart’s Abduction from the Seraglio. Our seats were in the back of the balcony.

The opera was great. It had all the music by Mozart and all the sung dialogue in German. The spoken parts bore very little resemblance to the German dialogue of the original. Instead of a seraglio the opera took place in an experimental lab. The characters who needed to be rescued were lab rats instead of people. Orion was a watch cat. And the dialogue was in English. It made for a funny and charming show and the singers were fantastic! After the opera we went out for dinner at Il Granaio a great Italian restaurant near the train station. What a great day.
