Deer deer.

I can't imagine why anyone thought this a good place to put this sculpture of fighting/rutting stags but it was a surprise to see them in the haberdashery department of John  Lewis today. They didn't even have what I wanted except a fancy one at four times the price. Has anyone else noticed how little choice they have nowadays - hardly any buttons, or zips for example.

On the way home, sitting in the front seat of the bus (after a half-mile walk to the stop) we had a face-to-face view of Sir Walter Scott and his faithful hound (a Pyrenean Wolfdog/Highland Deerhound cross) Maida, enthroned in his monument. I was torn between the two photos, so, great author though he may be,  he is reduced to an extra.
