A side-effect of the knackered catch on the fridge's freezer compartment door (besides increasing the risks for people who eat fish if they ate any frozen fish stored in the compartment) was a huge increase in the amount of melted-condensed-vapour-water escaping from the frost which collected around the seal area of the improperly-closed door to collect in the sump beneath the lowest drawer, and which was starting to slosh out every time a child incautiously yanked it open in search of hidden treats. The new door is now in place, currently allowing a small volume of damp air to begin the process anew.
