A Day out at Alnmouth

Son#2 is making a good recovery from his heart procedure a week past Thursday and is planning to return home to Bath on Monday. The weather forecast for today was sunny (although still rather chilly) so we thought a day at the beach would be good for all of us (heavy rain is forecast - again! - for tomorrow). Alnmouth seemed a good choice and we had a lovely time - it's hard (?impossible) to beat the fabulous northeast coast beaches. The tide was out and the beach was enormous and certainly not crowded!

The main blip gives an idea of its beauty, and the extra shows our son & his partner (wearing wellies!) with Coquet island in the background between them.

There's some more photos on a Google album here. Of particular interest  are the tank trap concrete blocks from WW2. A friend  to whom I sent the photos drew my attention to a recent BBC article about how coastal erosion (possibly due to rising sea levels) has caused them to become more exposed recently.
