Sutjeski National Park

Drove north in the morning through forests, a high plateau, a twisty mountain road and a canyon to get to our hotel in the NP. There we changed into walking clothes and set off in an old but up a steep track to the start of our walk - the last part was done by another bus that was just behind (very lucky as traffic is minimal, it was collecting a Croatian walking group) as ours was having trouble with 1st gear.
Lunch was next - a picnic for us and an unexpected feast for the mosquitos. Then through the forest, up across flower-filled meadows to the steeper climb to Ugjesin (not sure of the spelling) peak where we had expansive views all round. This one looks toward the higher mountains and Montenegro, our destination for 2 days later.
I could have spent hours photographing the flowers, they were wonderful at all levels, but restricted myself to a dozen or so, though I also got pics of a swallowtail butterfly on the top.
We then walked along the ridge to the craggy bit and dropped back down into the valley and more meadows back to the track. The path used to go under the craggy bit but rock falls have made it very difficult.
