Nesting Fulmars

These sea birds nest on cliffs and rocky ledges and are not the easiest birds to photograph. A number of these noisy birds nest on the cliffs which run from the harbour up to St Andrews Castle. Not easy to spot the birds owing a wall that is about shoulder height .... even standing on tip toe only adds a couple of inches but It is almost enough to give me a fair sighting.

Fulmars look like gulls but they have straighter, stiffer wings and thickset neck. The birds only come ashore during the breeding season.

No rain but very dull and misty this morning ... not ideal conditions for photography.
