Pirate Festival

It is the pirate festival at Brixham this weekend. Three days of it. It was an awful morning, non-  stop drizzle. In the harbour there is a replica of the the ship that between 1519-1522 made the First Round the World Race, the greatest maritime feat of all time - the Nao Victoria, and the misty weather gave atmosphere to the scene. There were fabulous pirate outfits on show (extra) and  music on the quay. It was very quiet at 9.00 so I sheltered in Wetherspoons, emerging later when things got going.  The intelligentsia were there as usual watching Laura Kuenssberg, but dressed as pirates today. From then on it rained continuously and I went home about 30 minutes before the day changed and the sun shone. Sat in the garden listening to the yaffle of a green woodpecker which we could see in the trees opposite.
