Cramond

Cycle ride to Cramond by the foreshore; overcast, and it had been raining overnight, but got around dry. Light wind from the West. The tide was a very long way out. Saw two oystercatchers but all the other waders must have been out at the waterline.

Eight swans, not paired, were in the outfall of the Almond river. Also about a  dozen mallard at the harbour. A little ferry boat there would be a good thing in the summer time.

Out to walk in the early evening by London Road gardens then to Holyrood. Walked around the physic garden .. not all the plant label sticks are in the right places, and the planting has got somewhat out of balance. Poppies are flourishing, but are a bit big for the raised beds. Some very nice compost boxes and excellent beech hedges. Extra is of the pavilion called Queen Mary's Bath which is on the street side of the physic garden.
