Opportunist

A warm, dry, cloudy morning encouraged me to wash the car - long overdue - but the frequent and mostly torrential downpours of this afternoon forced me into the greenhouse and to complete other indoor tasks. Undeterred by the heavy rain and odd clap of thunder this Thrush took full advantage of the wet conditions which obviously brought worms to the surface. Occasionally it would cock its head to one side as if listening to what was going on in the soil. Later I was surprised to see a Chaffinch taking seed from the feeder as in the past I have only  seen them as ground feeders. Maybe it has learned by watching the Greenfinches and Goldfinches? see extra
