Adelaide Rosella in winter plumage

My thanks to all of you for the wonderful comments, stars and hearts for my Grey Currawong yesterday, and for pushing it into the Spotlight. I have not yet had time to personally thank all of you.

Today it is back down to earth with a Rosella in the tree. Our Rosellas of this colour are strictly speaking all Crimson Rosellas. However this bird belongs to the sub-species known as the Adelaide Rosella. It has an orange chest and belly rather than crimson on the underneath side.

It is quite different from the Eastern Rosella which is slighter larger and has white cheek patches instead of lilac blue.

Better closeup.

I also blipped an Adelaide Rosella on 22nd March and again on 27th March.
